Features of Effective Management

Management is a really challenging activity to do well. It is hard because you are responsible for the performance (the numbers - revenue and profit, efficiency and productivity) of your staff and you are required from business owners (or your own boss - a higher manager) to improve these metrics. However, on the other hand, you need to do so in a way that is not irritating, forced and grating on your team.

You cannot establish a work camp style (things might get done, but you'll be reviled).

You also cannot set up a permanent country club style (your workers will think you're great, but performance will wane).
