Classical Approach

This approach was the result of the growth in factories in the late Industrial Revolution - where machines were used to replace hand-made, artisan and craftsman style work. The factory context required mass organisation to ensure that resources were deployed with something resembling order.

The classical approaches were task oriented. 

There was an emphasis placed on the process that saw human labour as an impersonal resource to be utilised in much the same way as the machines.

The Classical Approach is still highly relevant to modern day firms.
