Industrial Relations is a highly contested area of government policy that regulates the balance between capital and labour.
There are diametrically opposed interests between employees and employers (historically and broadly).
Consider the analogy of a boxing match - but the referee is biased:
Labor Party supported by Unions and representing working class - likely to enact legislative reform in support of workers
Liberal-National Coalition supported by business and business owners - likely to enact legislative reform to assist business owners
